Dear Friend,

Last night PG&E announced that a Public Power Safety Shutoff would occur in parts of Alameda County

starting tomorrow, Saturday October 26th at noon and could potentially last until Monday.

Our offices are awaiting more updates from PG&E and the City but for the time being Joaquin Miller Park will be closer and the Oakland Fire Department will be patrolling the Oakland Hills to ensure the safety of our residents and public land.

Please ensure you have the supplies you need during this time, your devices are charged, your medicine is secure, and you’ve reviewed evacuation plans in case of an emergency. Our offices will attempt to update you as much as possible but we encourage you to sign up for ac alerts which will be monitoring the situation 24 hours a day.

Save the Air also announced that air quality levels are moderately hazardous and seniors, children, and people with lung disease should remain indoors as much as possible and avoid prolonged exposure to outside air.

Thank you and stay safe!

Sincerely,

Sheng Thao
Council Member, District 4
